Veneers vs. Crowns

Outlaw Dental is a family practice or, as I like to say, “We see patients from age 3 to 103.” A large part of our practice, however, is cosmetic dentistry. There is nothing more rewarding than to see someone’s beaming grin when he/she is all smiles after our practice has completed a makeover.

A question that often comes up from our patients is: “Do I want porcelain veneers or crowns? Which option is best for me?” Well, the answer is… it depends. Both options – veneers or crowns – are excellent restorations; both are beautiful and, when done properly, one cannot tell the difference in the way they appear. Porcelain veneers are attractive and natural looking, require less tooth structure be removed, and can last many years. However, in comparison to crowns, they are slightly more prone to come off or break. Crowns are just as stunning and natural looking as veneers. Remember, I said that you can’t even tell the difference by looking at one’s teeth as to which approach was taken. Crowns are predictably stronger and more durable than veneers; yet, they do require that more of the natural tooth structure be removed.

Every patient is different: Some are very gentle on their teeth and others are extremely hard on their teeth. So, which option is best for you? This question can be daunting one but, we, at Outlaw Dental, can help you decide which approach will work best for your pearly whites. We look forward to scheduling a visit with you. Call us today to discuss the cosmetic dentistry applications that can change your smile.
